“The event provided a fascinating insight into many contemporary issues involving cyber security, with discussion ranging from government policy to basic consumer concerns. The speakers were very interesting to listen to, the location was very cool and overall, it was a really enjoyable and stimulating lunch!”
Sanjay Puri, Apprentice
“As in the past this year’s APPRG talk on Hacking and Cyber security was very interesting. Discussion on end-to-end encryption, block chain theory and anonymity on the web was of particular interest. I will make sure to update all my devices regularly now as well!”
Tom Heywood, Freeman
“A very insightful event, with three speakers who spoke about parts of cyber security I had not considered before, and as the majority of time after they spoke was allocated to questions there was ample opportunity to voice opinions, concern and ask questions, which lots of guests did. The answers were also very coherent from all speakers. It is not often you can ask a panel of experts questions, so I’m very glad to have attended.”
Nathan Cater, Apprentice
“It was a fascinating afternoon, with lots of insightful discussion and some very interesting people present.”
“The event presented a great opportunity to talk with students, members of academia, industry and parliamentary representatives about the challenges and opportunities in engineering today and in the future.”
“It was a fantastic chance to speak to other people who normally we wouldn’t have had a chance to engage with to hear about their experiences and take on their wisdom.”
“It was great to speak to the different students who are all interested in engineering, some of whom were unsure of ways to achieve their goals in eventually getting an engineering job … I managed to provide them with some information about apprenticeships and internships.”
Olivia Brooks, Bohunt School
Four pupils from Bohunt School went up to the House of Lords on the 17th March for the All Party Parliamentary Engineering Group debate and had an extremely fascinating day.
All being interested in different areas of science, we found it very useful to not only meet brilliant engineers but also listen to a very relevant debate about internet fraud and technical computer security issues.
We were also able to contribute with our own questions which were of particular interest to us . We felt very grateful and privileged to be invited up to London and dine with the best view in London.
